For organizations
Professionalism.guide is free for your people to use. If you bring early-career people into your organization (graduates, interns, apprentices, career changers), it gives them in one place what most of us learned the hard way: how to listen, explain, disagree, negotiate and carry themselves at work.
What's here
- Ten modules and 90 topics, each a few minutes' read
- Every topic narrated, in eight languages
- Check Habits: 90 habits to tick, which give each person their own habit card
- Compare Habits: two cards side by side, showing where two people agree and where they differ
There's nothing to install, no accounts and no tracking. Your people open it in a browser and start.
Ways to use it
- Onboarding: one module a week through the first ten weeks
- Before and after: Check Habits in the first week, and again at the end of the program
- Manager and new hire: the new hire checks their own habits, the manager checks the habits they see, and Compare Habits gives them the agenda for a one-to-one
- Peer pairs: two colleagues compare cards and talk through the differences
- On the move: the playlists play topics in order, like a podcast
What it isn't
Check Habits and Compare Habits are for reflection and conversation. They are not assessments, and they must never decide anyone's hiring, pay, promotion or discipline.
The guide reflects American corporate norms. Where your workplace differs, say so: that's a good discussion in itself.
What's free, and what to ask about
Free, without asking:
- Your people using the site
- Links to any page, from your intranet or learning platform
- Short quotes, credited to me, with a link
Ask me first before building the material into a course, slides, a handbook or your learning platform. The Conditions of Use have the details.
